The drawings Paralingual transcriptions (Sara + Aileen) are paralingual transcriptions of the two women, Sara and Aileen's stories about losing and acquiring language, and the complex feelings of shame, pride and identity gap that come with it.

The symbols mark the nonverbal sounds that emerged in the interviews I conducted with Sara and Aileen in January 2024, and are thus a portrait of their paralinguistic language.
