Paralingual transcriptions (Aileen & Sara)

The drawings are paralingual transcriptions of Sara and Aileen's stories about losing and acquiring language, the ambivalent coexisting emotions of shame and pride linked to the identity gap, that their lingual positions bring along.

The paralingual symbols silently mark out the non-verbal sounds that appeared during the interviews I conducted with Sara and Aileen in January 2024.
