Voicing a choreography of Echo

This piece started in Athens in the Spring 2020 while I was at a residency at the Danish Institute in Athens.

Obsessed with the myth about the mountain nymph Echo described in Ovid’s metamorphosis, I went looking for the female vocal creature amongst the architecture and archeological sites of Athens.

The journey intertwines with myths and tragedies by Euripides and Aristophanes as well as writings about women in the Ancient Greek society. The piece is a documentary listening experience in search of Echo’s voice as well as a tribute to silenced women in the history of Greece.

A big thanks to Breton Cassette and Pernille Meidell for the releasing the tape, the collaboration, talks and friendship.
